Finding the right foundation isnt easy.

With so many options available, its almost impossible to know where to start.

When it comes to makeup, foundation is your base, your true square one.

Do you need foundation?

A lot of people wear a ton of makeup without any foundation at all.

Basically, if its not a powder, it can be considered a liquid.

Powder foundationscan be found in loose or pressed variations.

Theyve been known to sit nicely on the skin and have give you a very natural finish.

Liquid foundationshave become more and more prevalent in recent years.

Basically, how much light it will reflect.

Some prefer no shine at all.

Demi-matte:A demi-matte foundation will provide a touch of shine but not too much.

They are also ideal for those with combination skin.

I find demi-mattes to look the most like your actual skin.

Illuminating:Illuminating foundations are for those who have no problem with their skin reflecting light.

Sheer:Sheer coverage can come in the form of sheer foundations and skin tints.

Both are great for putting your natural coloring front and center with just a bit of pigment.

These also tend to be less cakey and less noticeable on the skin than other, heavier foundations.

Full:Full coverage foundations are there for when youre serious about coverage.

Theyre meant to cover everything, and I mean everything.

Full coverage foundations are great for when its time to amp things up for a full glam moment.

This will make your skin look flawless, even plasticized.

Fingers:You definitely already have these, and theyre free!

Brush:I started with brushes and I still go back to them every once in a while.

Blending Sponge:Blending sponges are great because they apply your foundation with a seamless, airbrushed looking finish.

Another bonus is that you end up using less product.

I know all of the choices may seem overwhelming, but think of them asoptions.

Your perfect base is out there just waiting for you to discover it.
