Luckily, there are still a number of ways to fully close out of an app.

PressCommand-Qto quit the app that’s currently running in the foreground.

Click theQuitbutton from the drop-down menu to quit the app.

Start by pressingCommand-Tabandnot letting goof theCommandkey.

You’ll see the app-switcher window.

Keep hittingTabuntil you’ve selected the app you want to quit.

Keep holding theCommandkey and pressQ.

This will quit the selected app.

To quit multiple apps, just keep selecting the app you want to close withTaband pressing the Q button.

When you’re done, releaseCommand.

It’s why I useMagicQuittoforce inactive apps to quit automatically.

In a second or two, the offending app will close.

Alternatively, you could pressCommand-Option-Escapeto force-quit Mac apps.

This opens a small window that lists all open apps.

grab the unresponsive app and clickForce Quitto stop running it.

PressCommand-Spaceto launch Spotlight search and search forActivity Monitor.

kick off the app and it’ll list all running applications.

go for the unresponsive app and click theXbutton in the top bar.

This will open a pop-up window, where you’re able to selectQuitorForce Quitdepending on what you need.
