This week, Google announced that Stadia, its game-streaming platform, is coming outNovember 19.

Hold on: Why do I need the Founders Pack to play on my TV?

When Stadia launches next month, that will not be the case.

This wasnt always clear, but a Google community manager recently confirmed this onReddit.

So, you need the Chromecast Ultra and the Stadia controller, at least at launch.

But what if I dont plan to play Stadia on my TV?

However, playing games on these platforms comes with some strings attached.

(Literally, in some cases.)

This means youll have to plug it in to play on PC and the Pixel 3.

To me, the inability to play wirelessly is only an issue on a phone.

Whats in the Founders Pack?

You also get a gift card that allows you to give three months of Stadia Pro to a friend.

When you price it out, the Stadia Founders Pack isnt a bad deal.

And thats assuming your broadband isgood enough to run Stadia, which isnt a given.

OK…wait.

Is Stadia going to work?

Weve finally arrived at the million-dollar question.

As I said at the top, Stadia seems to come with a lot of caveats at launch.

I certainly hope Google solves all of Stadias wonkiness with both its controller and third-party gamepads.
