I of course said no, and was a little alarmed for a second but decided to play along.

When in doubt, know thatyouhave control over your interactions with a site or service.

Basically, dont act on a prompt, because that prompt might be a scam.

Just load the app or website yourself.

Im sure there are exceptions, but generally speaking, companiesdont call you to talk about your account.

An automated email, sure, but a phone call?

(Or, really, in this case: Hang up and just change your password yourself.

You dont need someones help.)

Would some online retailerreallywant you to change your password to somethingtheyprovide?

If so, the obvious spoiler is that someone is trying to take advantage of you.

(Take my Gmail, not my money.)

When in doubt, remember that you dont have to doanythingsomeone or something suggests that you should.
