As always, the process couldnt be any easier.
After that, choose Update Now to launch the process.
What if Im already using the macOS Big Sur beta?
That should pop up this window:
hit Restore Defaults to unenroll from the beta program.
If youre prompted to reset your system, do that.
Then, update to the final version of macOS Big Sur as you normally would.
Im not in any beta.
Should I do anything before I update to macOS Big Sur?
you might never have too many backups.
That way, if disaster strikes, you could easily restore your system to its full state pre-Big Sur.
Pull upFinderand click onUtilities > Disk Utility.
select your hard drive in the left sidebar, and then click onPartitionon the right side of the window.
If youre on an older version of macOS, youll go right into the partition-customization screen.
Those creating an APFS volume are basically done for the time being.
Youll then be able to switch between your two partitions by holdingOptionwhile your system boots.
