I recommended Authy, but thats only because I use it and find it incredibly convenient.

Im only semi- techie and most of that thanks to the nice people on Reddit.

Now youre saying that it isnt secure, and I should switch to Authy, right?

How do I do that?

If I delete the Google one off my phone, will that mess up my Reddit signon?

Or will it automatically swap over?

Any guidance you could give me would be most greatly appreciated!

Lets go over the basics!

First, heres the simple version of how 2FA protects your accounts.

No One Knows About Two-Factor Authentication, and It’s Putting Their Security at Risk

That app has a rotating number on it.

Now, to your question.

If you want to be super-safe, you might waitorswitch to another authenticator app, like Authy.

Youll have torepeat this processfor every site or service where youve enabled 2FA and linked it to Google Authenticator.

However, to shareAuthycodes across devices, the process is much simpler.

roll out the Authy app on whatever other rig you want to use for 2FA.

Then, jump into the Authy app on your original gadget and pull up its prefs.

Tap on Devices at the bottom, and enable Allow Multi-gadget.

Otherwise, theres typically not a way to just add a new equipment and have it sync up.

If thats you, perhaps Authy isnt the best fit after all.
