The new Android smartphone, which was unveiled on Thursday morning, starts at just $500.
But can the OnePlus 5T really stand up to these name-brand devices?
Lets take a closer look at what OnePlus has to offer.
Camera
Your smartphone camera probably gets more use than any other feature on the machine.
OnePlus also included fast auto-focus and electronic image stabilization to reduce shakiness in your videos.
Apples new front-facing camera can also create portrait-style selfies, another feature missing from the OnePlus 5T.
Overall, Apple still leads the pack when it comes to smartphone photography.
But if youre choosing between Android devices the OnePlus 5T looks pretty equal to the competition.
Screen
The OnePlus 5T follows the 2017 trend of removing bezels to make way for bigger displays.
Googles smaller Pixel 2 sports a 5-inch screen and some particularly chunky bezels, which are tough to forgive.
Instead, its closer to Samsungs approached on the Galaxy Note 8, which uses pattern recognition.
So its not as secure but still works super fastunder 0.2 seconds to unlock according to OnePlus.
The OnePlus 5T also keeps the fingerprint sensor, but moves it to the back of the phone.
Otherwise, Samsung and OnePlus occupy a reliable middle ground.
Headphone Jack?
Yes, the OnePlus 5T has a headphone jack.
Thats great news if youre not ready to abandon your old headphones for Bluetooth.
Then again, Samsung also kept the aux input on its Galaxy Note 8.
So you have options.
We dont expect either company to change course any time soon (if ever).
If you really want Face ID or wireless charging this isnt the phone for you.
Otherwise its definitely worth considering when the OnePlus 5T launches on November 21.
