Assume your webcam and microphone are always on
This ones easy.
If youre in any kind of virtual meeting, assume that your microphone and camera are on.
It doesnt matter if they arent on.
It doesnt matter if you could clearly see that you are muted and the camera is off.
You are Paul Atreides and this is a form of mental training.
Paranoia is your friend here.
This shouldnt matter at all if youre taking our first suggestion to heart.
This doesnt mean that your microphone isalsoon or offjust your webcam.
Cover up your webcam
Applefrowns on this advice, but I dont really care.
Another great way to ensure nobody can see you via your webcam is to cover it up.
When you arent actively presenting, or dont need your face to be seen, cover up your cam.
They might have no idea that youre in a video chat.
That kind of thing.
Eliminate the possibility for disaster byonly using your work unit for work things.
Its as easy as that.
Just treat the day as if you were onsite at your actual job.
Im not sayingwhichclothes you have to wear; work in your comfy jammies for all I care.
But while youre working, maybe agree to leave your clothes on until youre officially done for the day.
Nobody will judge youand that includes, most importantly, your colleagues.
