When moving Apple contacts from one unit to another, sometimes you end up with duplicates.
This is really easyjust fire up the Contacts app and scroll to the top of the list.
If you have duplicate contacts on your phone, you’ll see a card that saysDuplicate Foundbelow your name.
TapView Duplicatesand selectMerge Allto fix duplicate contacts on your iPhone.
Just click theApple logoin the top-left of your Macs home screen and go toSystem Preferences > Apple ID.
Under Apps on This Mac Using iCloud, verify thatContactsis checked.
Once youve done that, open theContactsapp on Mac.
In the search bar, typeContactsand kick off the app.
Here youll be able to see all of your contact list’s duplicate entries.
A few seconds later, the Contacts app will show you how many duplicates you have.
it’s possible for you to check this box if you want, but it’s optional.
When youre ready, clickMerge,and the Contacts app will do the rest.
Remember that this method does not work on mobile devices, such as your iPhone.
Youll have to open iCloud.com on a laptop or desktop to access iCloud contacts.
To get started, go to iCloud.com in any web client and sign in.
Once youve logged in, clickContactsto view your address book on the web.
This will show you all of your contacts.
Scroll down and look for any duplicate contacts.
HoldCommandon Mac orControlon Windows and click each duplicate contact until youve selected them all.
Now, just pressDeleteon the keyboard.
You’ll see a confirmation pop-up that checks if youreallywant to delete those contacts.
You do, so selectDeleteto get rid of the duplicate entries.
Were going to export all contacts from iCloud, import them into Google Contacts, and remove duplicates there.
Then well deleteallcontacts from iCloud and import the de-duplicated contact list from Google Contacts.
Start by signing in toiCloud contactsin any web app.
after you grab iCloud contacts open, click thethree-dots iconup top and clickSelect All Contacts.
With all contacts selected on iCloud.com, click thegear icononce more and selectExport vCard.
Next, enter toGoogle Contactsin your internet tool.
When youre signed in, click theImportbutton in the left pane and hitSelect filein the pop-up.
Find the .vcf file you exported from iCloud, select it, and clickImport.
Google Contacts will take a few seconds to import all of your contacts.
Once its done, all imported contacts will be neatly sorted in a label in the left pane.
It usually reads: Imported on DATE.
With all contacts imported, selectMerge & fixin the left pane, which is below theFrequently contactedbutton.
This will show all your duplicates and let you merge them, too.
If it shows no suggestions, refresh the page once.
Review to see if it shows all duplicate contacts, and then clickMerge all.
Finally, click theContactsbutton in the left pane and test whether all contacts have been merged.
Now, its time to export those merged contacts.
ClickAllto select all contacts.
Click thethree dotsicon below the search bar at the top.
In the pop-up, choosevCardunderExport asand clickExport.
Save this file somewhere safe on your system.
Lets bring these fixed contacts back to iCloud.
Return toiCloud contactsin any surfing app, hit thethree-dots iconat the top, and clickSelect All Contacts.
If you haven’t already, click thethree-dots iconagain and clickDelete Contactsto remove all of your contacts from iCloud.
Once that’s done, hit the+button in the top-right corner of the iCloud contacts webpage and selectImport Contact.
Import the contacts file you just exported from Google Contacts.
This will fix all your duplicate contacts on iCloud.
