Those buzzing insects in your backyard are more than a nuisance at your barbecue.

In numbers, theyre a formidable threat.

you’re free to usually avoid attacks in the wild simply bystaying away from hives and nests.

If you leave them alone, theyll leave you alone.

So try not to disturb their homes.

And, most importantly,carry an epinephrine injection penthat you might use in emergencies.

If you come across any of these nests around your home, consider calling a professional to remove them.

If youre being pestered by bees, dont swat at any that them.

And if you do get stung, leave the area immediately.

However, if youre being surrounded by hornets or wasps, you have to be a little more careful.

Dont stop to help others unless theyabsolutelyneed it (like children or the elderly).

Do not stop until you reach shelter, like a vehicle or building.

Dont jump into water because the bees will wait for you to come up for air.

Pull your shirt over your head as you run to protect your face, mouth, and eyes.

Dont swat at the bees as you run.

Movement attracts them and dead bees emit a smell that attracts more to you.

Call 911 to report a stinging attack once youre safe.

Even if you escape a swarm, youll likely be stung a few times.

But thats definitely not something you should test outeven a little bit.

Even a few stings can be incredibly painful, not to mention deadly if you have allergies.
