On modern consoles like the PlayStation 5, recording gameplay is as easy aspressing a button.

But on PC and Steam Deck, its always been a bit of a chore.

Users can also simply save an MP4 file of their recording for their own use.

To try out Steams Recording features, youll need to enable beta features.

SelectSteam Beta Updateand restart Steam.

Click theREClogo to open your Steam controls to the Game Recording Tab.

Recording on demandwill automatically save recordings as clips.

Theres also an option to record your microphone.

And even though the recordings are saved as clips, youll still be able to edit them later.

Together, this will allow you to set a limit for how much storage space automatic recording will use.

Old gameplay will be overwritten as you reach your limit.

As with recording on demand, you’re able to choose whether or not to record your microphone.

Theres also a keyboard shortcut to do this while in-game (defaulted toCtrl+F11).

Once youve saved your recording, you’re free to edit and share it from the overlay.

From the Steam Decks main menu, press theSteambutton on your gadget.

Navigate down toSettingsnext to the cog icon and clickSystem.

From here, click into the dropdown menu underBeta Participation,and next toSystem Update Channel.

ClickBetaand reboot your Steam Deck.

pop pop the parameters menu again, then clickApplynext toSoftware Updates.

Restart one more time.

Now, press theSteambutton again and scroll down toGame Recordingunder parameters.

Youll see the same menu as on PC and be able to make the same adjustments.

As on PC, it’s possible for you to adjust these as you wish.

Open a game, press theSteambutton one more time, and scroll down toGame Recording.
