It is a historic site and a very popular destination for tourists and locals. Every February the hot springs hosts a Hair Freezing Contest. At the end of the month the winner is picked and they win $150 cash.
These pictures show alien planets, nebulas, globular clusters and even the elusive black hole. Of course, the space probe isnt real and so are these images, but they look almost believable. Whats unbelievable is the way these photos were taken. This photo series reminds me of Christopher Jonassens photos offrying pans that look like alien planets. If you havent seen those, you must.
During summer, the caves are inaccessible and can be viewed only from the water. These ice formations take a variety of shapes that changes from chamber to chamber and from day to day. The lake also doesnt freeze every year to make the visit possible. Last year was the first time in five years that the caves were open in the winter. The caves haveopened this year too.
Ferdinand also advocated the idea of a federalism. These ideas were not popular among the ruling elite. Most of them failed to act until the car approached one conspirator Nedeljko Cabrinovic. Its explosion left a 1-foot-diameter crater on the street and wounded several people. Meanwhile, Cabrinovic had swallowed a cyanide pill and jumped into the Miljacka river. Cabrinovic sprained his ankles and was unable to move. His cyanide pill didnt work either and only induced vomiting....
These events last for several days. Once enough funds have been collected, the ceremonies can began. The more powerful the person who died, the more buffalo are slaughtered at the death feast. Its not uncommon to sacrifice tens of buffaloes and hundreds of pigs. After the sacrifice, the meat is distributed to the funeral guests. The grave is usually expensive and takes a few months to complete. Babies are not buried in caves or hung from cliffs but buried inside the hollow of living trees....
Argentinas long dispute escalated in 1982, when the countrys forces invaded the islands resulting in the Falklands War. In the end, the islands were returned to the British Crown. But the real winners were the islands penguins. Photo credit The 18th century was a popular time for whaling. But the Falklands is completely devoid of trees. McGuire’s Irish Pub and Brewery is a popular restaurant and local landmark in Pensacola, Florida. The pub is located in a 1927 building which was originally the Pensacola Fire Department’s firehouse. Port Royals glory days didnt last long. At the height of its glittering wealth on June 7, 1692, a massive earthquake shook Jamaica. The sea swallowed the town killing 2,000 people and wounding 3,000 others. The first Europeans to land on Jamaica were the Spaniards under the leadership of Christopher Columbus in 1494. Spain maintained control over the island for 146 years, until the English invasion of 1655. The strategy proved to be so successful that Spain was forced to continually defend their property....
The waters of this 3-mile long lagoon is sparkling blue and studded with countless tiny rocky islands. The water here is clean and algae free. These big lizards survive by feeding on cactuses, occasional insects, plants and foraging fruits. The waters are inhabited by bonefish and barracudas, while stingrays and small lemon sharks can occasionally be sighted. For now, the main attraction for most visitors is sightseeing by road on the southern side....
A fatal grenade attack left him severely wounded and he died eight days later. Adolf Hitler himself described him as the man with the iron heart. Getting rid of Heydrich was a long-premeditated plot. To avenge the death of Heydrich, the Germans launched a terrifying retaliation. The few children considered racially suitable for Germanisation were handed over to SS families. The village of Lidice was set on fire and the remains of the buildings destroyed with explosives....
While the beach itself is natural, the sinkhole under which the beach lies is reportedly man-made.
