In places they reach up to three and a half meters tall.
Some are jagged, sharp-edged columns, rising to a point, while others resemble tombstones.
Over time, coastal winds removed the surrounding sand, leaving the pillars exposed to the elements.
Today it receives over 250,000 visitors a year.
