These six methods use some unusual tools to turn dry tinder into a toasty campfire.

As this video fromUltimate Survivalistdemonstrates, thatll do!

Start by taking your flashlight apart and removing the silver cone/cup thats used to reflect light from the bulb.

Then point the wide part at the sun so the light bounces off and focuses on the tinder.

Blow on it gently until you have a nice ember going, then add it to your fire kindling.

With an Aluminum Can

First, find a soda can.

Once youve got your can, you want to polish the bottom of it.

The latter being something you’re free to easily find out in the wild.

Try a few angles and see if you might focus the reflected light on a particular spot.

Now place your tinder in that spot and let the sun do its thing.

With a Gum Wrapper and Battery

Have some gum in your pack?

Have a flashlight or other gear that has a AA or AAA battery?

You have everything you gotta start a fire.

In the video above, youtuberThe King of Randomshows you how.

Start by having a piece of gum and saving the metallic wrapper.

Cut the wrapper into three strips, each with a thin section in the middle and two thick ends.

The center of the strip should ignite so it’s possible for you to quickly light some tinder.

But with the ever-present threat of a nuclear apocalypse, it still might be useful to know.

The video above, fromThe Outsider, explains how to do it step by step.

Start with some super fine grade steel wool and any brand of 9V battery.

Just ensure you dont breathe in the smoke from the burning steel wool.

With Ice

Yep, ice.

To do it yourself, all you need is a knife, some tinder, and some serious patience.

Start by finding some clear ice in the creek, river, pond, or lake nearby.

Now carefully cut or break out a large chunk of it with your knife.

Then place your ice lens so its pointing at your tinder and wait for the sunlight to ignite it.

With Water and a Plastic Bag

Ah, water.

Fires mortal enemyunless you use it the wayThe King of Randomdoes in the video above.

Now carefully twist the bag so it turns into a sphere of water.
