BRX Wayneon where to stay:
Dont take a hotel right in the centre.
This area is way too overlooked in favour of the centre, that should change.
Since those cater to locals instead of tourists, the quality is higher, and prices are lower.
A personal recommendation is Kashmir Lounge, which has decent DJs and a relaxed vibe.
The people who work there are fun and helpful.
(No joke.)
Amg91on theNEMO Science Museum:
NEMO, although meant for kids, is a geeks paradise.
Plenty to see there for any age.
If you take a tour of the canals, youll certainly see its fascinating architecture from outside.
I found it surprisingly common for Amsterdam hotel rooms to have glass walled or open bathroom arrangements.
Madurodam
is right up your alley.
Its everything, just in miniature.
You must have poffertjes.
They are little tiny pancakes.
They put powdered sugar on them and they are delicious.
Maartenon the other local food:
You should not leave Amsterdam without trying an Indonesian restaurant.
In the Netherlands, they are usually marked as Indo-Chinees.
see to it you get a good one before you venture, as there are many mediocre ones.
G101010101on the other other local food:
Im not sure why but the dumplings are amazing in Amsterdam.
Its cheap, fast, and drops you off directly in the city center.
The view along the way of the Dutch countrysidewindmills and tulips includedis breathtaking.
Personally, I prefer this over flying directly into AMS.
Co-ed, clothing optional: truly the perfect place to rest after a day of touring.
It also hosts music festivals and Rollende Keukens (rolling kitchens).
Ask for a side container if you dont want that.
Try the spicy peanut sauce with onions (pindasaus).
Those who dont fall in and get caught in the act get a hefty fine.
Anon Anonon bike traffic and good pubs:
Plan more time for walking.
There are many bikes, so many that it becomes difficult to walk in high traffic areas.
We found that the best/most fun pubs were in on the outskirts of the red light district.
One step ofJeroens neighborhood-by-neighborhood breakdown:
Going east from Vondelpark youll get to De Pijp.
Hipster central, many overhyped and pretentious places though the Sarphatipark is photogenic and worth exploring some neighbouring streets.
Avoid the Heineken brewerey, tourist trap.
This last comment isnt a tip, but its affecting:
Thats it!
Come back next week for tips on a capital of American music.
