To effectively research, you should probably read viewpoints that challenge you.
They dont have to be radically different viewpoints, though those can certainly be helpful.
They necessarily have to pay more attention than you do just to get through their lives.
Read some things that you disagree with, and instead of debating with the author, debate with yourself.
Sometimes youll re-affirm your current beliefs; sometimes youll change your mind.
Now go and do something about it.
