GIFs have been around since way back in 1987, but show no signs of disappearing.

But maybe you don’t want to use a GIF someone else has made.

Maybe you want to create your own.

I’ll run down the most important options, and how to work through them.

First, select all the images you want to use, in order.

On the web, smack the check marks by each image.

Then, go for the+(plus) button, then pickAnimation.

After a few seconds, your GIF is created, and added to your Google Photos library.

Double-press an image to open it, then chooseFile,Export, andExport GIF.

You’ll be asked to choose a folder location and a filename.

If you want to use your iPhone, Apple’s ownShortcutsapp can be used in combination with Photos.

To add a shortcut, just tap the+(plus) icon on it.

Perhaps the most straightforward tool for the job here isGiphyon the web.

You do need to register an account to use Giphy, but it’s free.

With a layered image open, chooseWindowandTimeline, then chooseCreate Frame Animationin the Timeline pane.

Finally, chooseFile,Export, andSave for Web (Legacy)to output the GIF.
