The best-reviewed app by most birders isBirdNET, out of theCornell Lab of Ornithology.
Its available on Android and Apple, and best of all, its free.
It also appears that many other apps rely on BirdNET as the data backbone.
Cornell Lab has their own app, calledMerlin, which is also free and has a slightly slicker interface.
