A heads up about the tricky parts
The fish names here?
Theyre all red herrings.
A PIKE, for example, is not going to be a fish.
Think of other uses of that word, like in gymnastics or medieval warfare.
OYSTER and GOLDFISH do go together, but they have nothing to do with aquatic life.
Theyd be more at home in a grocery store.
What are the categories in todays Connections?
I give them all away below.
What are the yellow words in todays Connections?
The yellow grouping is considered to be the most straightforward.
What are the green words in todays Connections?
The green grouping is supposed to be the second-easiest.
What are the blue words in todays Connections?
The blue grouping is the second-hardest.
The purple grouping is considered to be the hardest.
ButI know better than to submit the first group I see.
If MULLET is a hairdo instead, what would we be looking at?
MULLET, SPANDEX, NEON, and terry cloth HEADBANDs are all iconic fashion elements from the 1980s.
What is RITZ doing here?
AhaRITZ is also a cracker.
And look here: OYSTER crackers, GOLDFISH crackers, ANIMAL crackers.
(I think its a bit disingenuous to call these types of crackers rather than doing a fill-in-the-blank.
Nobody says Hey, what kind of crackers should I get?
and receives an answer like oh, let me think…animal.)
PIKE, besides being a fish, is also a position in gymnastics.
(Its when you have your legs straight, and bend from the hips.)
TUCK, SPLIT, and STRADDLE fit that group.
CORPORATE, WORD, and ROPE dont make any sense to me as a group.
But with SALMON, they are clearlyladders.
Youll see a game board with 16 tiles, each with one word or phrase.
Your job is to select a group of four tiles that have something in common.
Select four items and hit the Submit button.
If you guessed correctly, the category and color will be revealed.
(Yellow is easiest, followed by green, then blue, then purple.)
If your guess was incorrect, youll get a chance to give it another spin.
You win when youve correctly identified all four groups.
But if you make four mistakes before you finish, the game ends and the answers are revealed.
Expect to see overlapping groups.
So dont hit submit until youve confirmed that your group of four containsonlythose four things.
If youre stuck, another strategy is to look at the words that seem to havenoconnection to the others.
