BAGUETTE is not a food at all today, in any sense.
A PUMPKIN is theoretically edible, but the one in todays puzzle is for carving.
It has a note in the flavor that is reminiscent of ANISE.

The purple grouping is considered to be the hardest.
How I solved todays Connections
LICORICE has to be a candy, right?
FENNEL and ANISE are herbs with similar flavors.
TARRAGON seems like an outlier to me, flavor-wise, but its still a slightly strange-tasting herb.
(It reminds me more of daffodils than licorice, but maybe thats just me.)
MELON and NUT together?
They must be nicknames for ones head or brain.
NOODLE and BEAN round out the group.
A BAGUETTE isnt only a loaf of French bread.
(The word meanssomething like stick or baton in French.)
There is a BAGUETTE cut for gems, as well as EMERALD and PRINCESS cuts.
Im pretty sure RADIANT fits as well.
Finally were left with CANDY, PUMPKIN, COSTUME, and DECORATIONS, all ingredients for a Halloween party.
Youll see a game board with 16 tiles, each with one word or phrase.
Your job is to select a group of four tiles that have something in common.
Select four items and hit the Submit button.
If you guessed correctly, the category and color will be revealed.
(Yellow is easiest, followed by green, then blue, then purple.)
If your guess was incorrect, youll get a chance to retry.
You win when youve correctly identified all four groups.
But if you make four mistakes before you finish, the game ends and the answers are revealed.
Expect to see overlapping groups.
So dont hit submit until youve confirmed that your group of four containsonlythose four things.
If youre stuck, another strategy is to look at the words that seem to havenoconnection to the others.
Check back tomorrow for the next puzzle!
